Richard Smith – quick summary from the National Achievers Conference.

The National Achievers Conference

For me  Richard Branson  probable gets the vote as the ‘best speaker’ he  stole the show and I know that is why the Virgin brand is so successful. He arrived on stage with his “virgin” hostesses and captivated the audience with his down to earth style.

I am sure he actually would have been more comfortable amongst the crowd rather than on the stage.

The message he delivered was clear in the he feels there are opportunities to be maxed out on, and fortunes are being made in the recession.

I certainly got his his vision for the future and that it was possible for every  person to become an entrepreneur and to create something to be proud of.

His statement that “we all need to be aware that small, lean, entrepreneurial businesses are now the future of business as a whole ……. entrepreneurism can be applied to problems, challenges and opportunities regardless of scale”

The problem is that life has become too comfortable for many to take the action that can make a difference, to take a risk and do something outside their comfort zone.  For others they recognise that they need to make a change but a fear of failure stops them.

He stressed that business should not just be about making a lot of money but about running a business that can make a real difference to people’s lives.

Certainly something I encourage my group to do.

One point Richard Branson was clear on was that there were great opportunities on the internet and it should be used as a platform to launch new businesses.  He was disappointed to see that most of the new business on the internet was currently in the USA and he urged everyone to start an internet business and put the UK on the map!

You will be happy  to know I am very much on the on the right track and able to help others to get started and make a difference too!

So what was his take home message?

“Screw it – Just Do it” …….. rings home with me.

So what are you going to do?
